Pour un Sénat désigné par tirage au sort

Abstract : The Senate of the Fifth Republic has been the subject of numerous studies, both from the point of view of its functions, its powers, and in terms of its modalities of appointment. On the latter point, however, the doctrinal debate has most often been limited to the choice between different methods of election. Thus, recourse to the elective process itself has not been questioned for a long time and the use of other methods has not been envisaged. This situation is evolving under the influence of the thought process that has been developing for several years, and which concern the modalities of designation of the governing rulers. Hence, given the challenges facing the Senate today, what could be the contributions of a reflection on the alternative elective process / random process?
